HIV and AIDS Program
One of the key program areas of CAC-Nepal is the prevention, treatment, care, and support related to HIV and AIDS, with a primary focus on female sex workers (FSWs), their clients, people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA), and other vulnerable women and girls. This program is implemented across districts in the Bagmati Province, where the organization delivers integrated health services that address both the medical and social aspects of HIV. Recognizing the heightened risk faced by FSWs and other marginalized groups, CAC-Nepal adopts a comprehensive approach thatcombines community outreach, behavior change communication, and direct service delivery. The program aims not only to reduce the incidence of new infections but also to improve the quality of life for those already living with HIV.
CAC-Nepal also emphasizes the prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), understanding that untreated STIs significantly increase the risk of HIV transmission. To address this, the organization provides both educational interventions and clinical services. These include STI screenings, treatment, and counseling, along with public health education that informs key population about safe sexual practices, risk reduction strategies, and the importance of early diagnosis. By integrating STI services with HIV programs, CAC-Nepal enhances its overall impact on sexual and reproductive health and ensures a more holistic response to the needs of vulnerable populations. Through this multi-layered approach, the organization continues to contribute meaningfully to the national HIV response, while advocating for the rights, dignity, and health of those most at risk
