Who Are We ?
Community Action Centre – Nepal (CAC-Nepal) is a non-profit, non-governmental social organization established in April 1993 by a group of intellectuals, social workers, and individuals experienced in community development. CAC-Nepal’s founding principle is rooted in the belief that empowering people to take charge of their lives is essential for promoting sustainable development—especially for women, girls and children.
Our main objective is to empower girls and women living in extreme poverty and marginalization, which increases their vulnerability to illegal migration, trafficking, violence, and HIV/AIDS. This is evident in the rising reports of trafficking in women and children, violence against women, and the growing number of women and girls involved in the entertainment industry.
Since 1993, CAC-Nepal has been a leading advocate for women and girl’s right. It has worked to curb the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Nepal through community awareness programs, Behavioral Change Communication, Strategic Behavior Communication, HIV and STI counseling and testing clinics. It is recognized as a pioneer organization in defending the rights of Female Sex Workers, many of whom have been drawn into commercial sex work through trafficking or migration.
CAC-Nepal is known for implementing strong governance and gender-inclusive management systems. Through the use of the Technical and Organizational Capacity Assessment Tool (TOCAT), CAC-Nepal has developed key policies and strategies, including its Human Resources Policy, Management Policy, Financial Policy, Gender Policy, Strategic Plan, and Communication Strategy.
