Peace Building

Academy for Educational Development (AED), DidiBahini and CAC-Nepal

In partnership with AED and jointly organised with DidiBahini, CAC-Nepal worked on the PEACE Project (Peace Enabling Awareness and Conflict Transformation Enterprise). The aim of this project was to establish 4 Peace Councils in the districts of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Parsa, Nuwarkot and Rauthat These councils now provide a platform for sharing conflict and cultural issues, such as gender discrimination, access to education, domestic violence, social inclusion and HIV awareness. These Peace Councils will also be used as pressure groups to lobby for social and cultural development of their communities. Each council consists of 20 youth and female members made up of both rural and urban communities and meet on a weekly basis to discuss their issues.
