Domestic Violence
In the male dominated region of South Asia, women and girls lives are in danger from the very moment of conception, simply because they are female. Their value is considered less than that of men and they are denied access to the most basic of opportunities such as education and a livelihood. In Nepal, women and children suffer greatly as a result of domestic violence. Studies have revealed that 95% of women have reported incidents of violence against them. In 77% of the cases, the perpetrators were reported to be members of the family. In the case of domestic violence, nearly 58% reported it as a daily occurrence. Gender discrimination is one of the root causes of domestic violence against women in Nepal. Women are discriminated on many levels including lack of access to economic rights, citizen rights and education. CAC-Nepal is an advocate of women's rights and highlights the issue of domestic violence in all of the work that it does .
